Mowgli: A Jungle Book Ballet
Experience the exciting jungle adventure of Roxey Ballet's Mowgli
Based on Rudyard Kipling's Jungle Book
A young man raised by wolves and tempered by the dangers of the jungle, Mowgli struggles to find his way to a village populated by this own kind. Drawn from the stories of Rudyard Kipling’s Jungle Book, Mowgli sets virtuosic choreography by artistic director Mark Roxey against vivid sets that capture the wildness of the protagonist. An evocative score by Czech composer Milan Svoboda, meanwhile, mingles traditional orchestration with anthemic set pieces that draw on European pop music and Svoboda’s other callings as a jazz pianist, bandleader, and part-time wolf.
"Mowgli" is a family-friendly performance for children of all ages. The story itself teaches audience members that one should let go one's fears and move forward. Mark Roxey loves the end of the ballet when Mowgli conquers his fear and decides to leave the jungle and his friends behind for the village of man.
